LIGHTING INTEREST GROUPS
Historic Lighting Club.
AIM : "To encourage interest in the collecting
and restoration of lighting artefacts and the research and study
of the history of illumination"
ACTION : Journal Production. Catalogue Re-prints.
Regular Meetings.
MEETING VENUES : Wythal (Nr Birmingham) and Uffington
(Nr Swindon), and Tuddenham (in Norfolk). Friendly, informal get-together,
five times a year, where you can bring along your favourite lamp
to show everyone, or bring along that mystery item you would like
to know more about. No entrance charge. There is usually a short
talk by one of the members and a regular auction of all sorts of
Lamp related pieces, but plenty of time to get to know members and
share your interests.

Antique Metalware Society
AIM : "To study Artefacts made of non precious
metals and their alloys, their manufacture and history, with a view
to increasing the knowledge and appreciation of them.
ACTION : Journal (annual), Newsletter, Visits with
talks, Meetings (min 2 a year).
MEETING VENUES : Dependent upon Meeting Content
- Ask prior to the meeting. Friendly mixture of formal though very
interesting talks, which usually draw upon detailed research of
a very high standard, and a chance for members to talk about their
interests and see, handle and hear members views on items brought
to be vetted for likely history, age etc. If you are interested
in the earliest lighting - candle, rushlight etc then you will find
much that is relevant to your interest. There is an attendance charge.
